outdoor furniture

by Geoffrey on June 23, 2011

Summer’s here – yesterday was summer solstice, June 21.  Just the right time for soaking up a bit of outdoor living.

So we are looking for cradle-to-cradle sustainable outdoor furnishings.  The best of course is not to buy new, but to hunt for gently used chairs and tables and to give them a new life.

Next, here is an Adirondack chair made of 100% recycled polyethylene from plastic containers and bottles – either post industrial or post consumer – held together with stainless steel bolts.  The chair should last many years, virtually maintenance-free.  It is also 100% recyclable.  At the end of a long life the chair could be disassembled and tossed into the recycling bin.  Theoretically, at least.

Photos to come.  More details later.
