Preventable pool deaths

by Geoffrey on June 20, 2011

One child every five days drowns in a backyard portable pool during the summer months.  This according to a new study published in Pediatrics.  Reported here  http://on.msnbc.com/iFzVNZ.

Unenclosed pools are  a known hazard.  The American Academy of Pediatrics has a policy statement on the prevention of drowning  http://on.msnbc.com/iFzVNZ.  Safety barrier guidelines for home pools from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC publication No. 362) is at www.cpsc.gov/CPSCPUB/PUBS/Pool.pdf
